With the Makita XT273R, you will get yourself an excellent and powerful set of cordless tools designed for tasks such as drilling, driving and fastening. Moreover, the 18V LXT Lithium batteries are made lighter in such a way that it will not be too much of a burden to use.
What do you say? It surely looks like it could pack quite a punch!
Compact Kit Inclusions
1. 18V LXT Hammer Driver-drill
The Makita combo kit includes many things. For starters, it has a hammer driver-drill that is operated by variable 2-speed options, 0-400 and 0-1500 RPM along with Makita-built 4-pole motor.
The hammer driver-drill only weighs 3.4 lbs, which I think is pretty much fair.
The product weight is very important especially to equipment like these. Sure, you can use a not-so-light drill, but give it some time, maybe 30 minutes of constant use, then I bet your hands and arms will not be very happy about it. Which is why using a drill that weighs less will be more convenient and safe for lack of better word. I say the 3.4 lbs is a reasonable weight for a hammer driver-drill. Not to mention Makita-built 4-pole motor.
May it be wood surfaces, metal or masonry, this flexible hammer drill will not back down and is all geared up for some action!
Variable speed feature
Perhaps, some of us if not most is familiar with Makita’s common feature which is the variable speed feature.
Well, Makita did not disappoint us on that because the hammer driver-drill has two speed options. You have the liberty to choose from 0-400 RPM or 0-1500 RPM, whatever is best suited for the situation.
The hammer driver-drill has built-in LED light to provide some afterglow in your work area. Although, it doesn’t really compare to the main light that we have, but let’s give Makita a thumbs up for adding this thoughtful feature.
2. 18V LXT Impact Driver
Lightweight and Hefty Performance
Just like the hammer driver-drill, this impact driver is also made lighter with its 2.8 lbs, which makes it almost a pound lighter than the hammer drill. Having this minimal weight means that it will also greatly reduce the operator fatigue, hence, more convenient to use.
Because the impact driver only weighs 2.8 lbs, it came as a surprise to me that it actually carries a mighty 1,420 lbs. of torque. Yes, you read it right. It has a one heck of a torque capacity for its “cute weight”.
Designed to be durable
When it comes to these hardcore units, it is also important to maintain it in its good condition. Lucky for us, this Makita 18V LXT Impact Driver is equipped with XPT or also known as Extreme Protection Technology.
XPT is patterned to protect the unit from dust and make it water resistant for it to survive even under rough and heavy-duty operations.
3. 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Compact 2.0Ah Battery
The two batteries are lithium ion battery cell type. For just 25 minutes, the 18V LXT compact 2.0Ah battery is now fully energized and ready to combat. You do not only have an excellent pair of lithium ion batteries, but you can also save a lot of time and perhaps increase your productivity considering its charging time. Lastly, the BL 1820B Lithium-Ion battery is featured with LED battery charge level indicator. This way, you will know just when it is low on battery and when you will need to recharge it. Oh, and by the way, this type of battery can also be used with any of the 18V LXT tools. You never know, this little information may come in handy in the future!
4. 18V Lithium-Ion Rapid Optimum Charger
Rapid charging time
Of course, the compact kit would not be complete without the charger. I mean, how else will you charge the lithium-ion batteries, right?
This optimum charger is designed for efficiency and to improve the battery’s temperature by cooling it “rapidly” as what the name of the charger states, with the help of a built-in fan.
5. Tool Bag
Then we have the tool bag to keep all those components safe and tucked away together. With or without this may not have that big of a difference, but at least there is one provided. It’s better than nothing, don’t you think?
Added protection: Star Protection Computer Controls
Featuring the stellar Star Protection Computer Controls, this protection tool is mainly made to lengthen the battery life and improve its performance. The Makita XT273R cordless components are designed with this technology.
It functions with a tool that gathers data and manages the equipment’s conditions when it is in use. The Star Protection Computer Controls works well together with the Extreme Protection Technology in order to safeguard it from overloading, overheating and over discharging.
So no need to fret, because your units are pretty much safe with these technologies!
So what do you think will be our take on this product? Do we buy this or maybe look for another one? Well, before coming with the final decision, let us first take a look at its price. This kit costs a good $259.00. Yep, it’s a bit expensive, huh? But considering its included components, maybe it’s not such a bad deal.
As for the design, I like how it’s made to be “worldly” and yet uncomplicated and user-friendly. It looks downright cool and up-to-date with its black and turquoise color combination! There’s also the awesome fact that it requires little effort to use because of its lightweight components. With just this feature alone, it already has a good potential to attract customers. Then add to the fact that the 25 charging time of the battery is also a superb attribute because this will increase the user’s productivity level. This product is certainly enticing for me.
How about you?
Maybe the only cons that I could think of is that like any other drilling equipment, you are also faced with regular repairs for their entire shelf life. Makita is no exception. But that’s just it, because these kind of equipment really do have the need to be repaired from time to time, regardless of the brand. Therefore, this particular issue doesn’t really concern me and I believe it’s just a petty downside.
Needles to say, if you’d like to have more advanced units than these then you can choose for higher versions, no problem.
Nevertheless, I would stick for this one because Makita XT273R has all I need and want for a compact cordless kit!
